If you are residing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, child support is a right granted by law to the child, and this applies even if the parents are divorced or separated. The related laws are:

Article 54, Law of Procedure before Sharia Courts: This law states that the mother, whether she is divorced or not, can file for child support. The court would oblige the father to pay the prescribed amount of child support.

Article 170, Law of Procedure before Sharia Courts: It stresses on the mandatory nature of child support and states that claims regarding child support take precedence over all other lawsuits.

It's important to file a case as soon as possible to secure your rights. It is a requirement under Saudi law that the father provides the set-out costs according to what the father ordinarily ought to provide for others like the child in question.

You have the right to demand written proof of any child support arrangements from your ex-husband. If the father refuses to abide by the court’s decisions and fails to pay for these costs according to a specified timeframe, he can face penalties.

Having said that, the court takes into account the best interest of the child under the guidance of Law of Procedure before Sharia Courts (Article 76).

Remember, it's not only economical support, Child support includes costs necessary to the upbringing, education, welfare, and other relevant needs of the child.
