I am currently working at a school in jeddah as an expat teacher. They advertised the job role as 12 months and my offer letter states that my salary will be paid in twelve months. Once I was signed the contract I realised that it was a 2 year contract instead.
Secondly, on my contract it states that I get 30 days paid leave during the summer but apparently we only get half our salary. Thirdly, they expect me to act on a role of lead teacher without any further explanation and idea of duties.
I am not happy with the contract. I realise I should have read it thoroughly before I signed but they mislead me tk believe it was 12 months.

As per Saudi labor law, Article 75 provides that an employee may terminate their employment contract without liability in certain situations. In your case, contract misrepresentation or deception, which seems to pertain to the duration of your contract (which you originally understood was for 12 months but turned out to be 2 years), seems a probable ground for termination. The exact wording of the law is:

Article (75): "The laborer may leave his service without a notice and shall be entitled to his end of service award in any of the following cases: [...] Second: If the employer does not fulfill his contractual or legal obligations towards him.'

In regards to your concerns about your paid leave and role duties, it's important to raise these issues with your employer and try to find a resolution. Should the situation fail to improve, you might have additional reason to terminate your contract.

Remember, it's always best to consult a legal expert before making any decisions that can impact your legal status. Please do not take any of the aforementioned information as definitive legal advice, as the accuracy of this information may change depending on the specifics of your situation.
