What is huroop How to know when Huroob is started?

"Huroob" is an Arabic term used in Saudi Arabia to describe a foreign worker who has absconded or run away from their employer.

Under the Saudi Arabian Labor Law, [Article 83]: "An employer may file a complaint to the Ministry against an expatriate worker he believes absconded provided that this complaint is filed within the period of fifteen (15) days from the date of absconding," and [Article 89]: "An expatriate worker shall be regarded as having absconded if he is reported to be absent by the employer and after an investigation by the Ministry is conducted in this respect."

To know when a "Huroob" is started, you can simply check the Absher system which is the online portal of the Ministry of Interior.

Removing "Huroob" status is possible but it depends on the circumstances, timing, and the cooperation of the employer. The first step should be contacting your employer to remove the "Huroob" status. If the employer agrees to remove it, they must visit the nearest labor office to complete the process. After your employer starts the process, it should be reflected in the Absher system.

However, if they do not agree to remove the "Huroob" status, an option available to foreign workers is filing a case against their employer in the labor court. But note that this is a lengthy process and requires legal representation.

Remember, in the laws, [Article 13] states: "If the non-Saudi worker works for another employer, that employer shall bear the cost of his residency and work permit transfer. If the worker works for his own account, he shall bear these fees himself."
